چکیده
BackgroundCystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD) is one of the most common non-respiratory complications CF (Cystic Fibrosis). There a lack clinical research to provide guidance on optimal treatment regimens for various subtypes CFRD.Case ReportThis case describes an 18 year old female, diagnosed with in infancy who presented our clinic evaluation possible related diabetes and episodes hypoglycemia. Subsequent testing revealed normal fasting glucose elevated levels post load OGTT, consistent diagnosis CFRD without hyperglycemia. She was found have large glycemic excursions after carbohydrate containing meals followed by delayed prandial hypoglycemia.DiscussionWe initiated low dose mealtime rapid acting analogue insulin saw both decrease her post- hyperglycemia, as well resolution hypoglycemic episodes.ConclusionThis highlights spectrum pancreatic dysfunction dysregulation benefit alone option.

Insulin Edema in a Patient With Cystic Fibrosis–Related Diabetes
Insulin edema is a rare complication of insulin therapy primarily seen with newly diagnosed or uncontrolled diabetes (1–3). Patients at risk are those who are beginning insulin treatment, underweight, or increasing their insulin dose either in the normal course of the disease or after diabetic ketoacidosis (1,4). The prevalence of insulin edema is unknown; a review of the literature revealed fe...

Diabetes is a frequent complication seen in cystic fibrosis patients as they reach adulthood. Cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD) is distinguished as a separate entity with features that include progressive loss of islet beta cell mass and insulin deficiency, as well as insulin resistance. Abnormalities in glucose tolerance may be detectable for many years prior to the development of overt ...

Diabetes mellitus and glucose intolerance are common in adolescent and adult patients with CF (Lanng et al, 1995; Moran et al, 1998). The prevalence of CF related diabetes (CFRD) increases with age (Moran et al, 1998) and in patients over 20 years of age may be as high as 53% (Lanng et al, 1995). CFRD occurs in up to 30% of individuals by the age of 25 and is invariably associated with pancreat...

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common autosomal recessive disorder in Caucasian populations. Individuals with CF have seen significant increases in life expectancy in the last 60 years. As a result, previously rare complications are now coming to light. The most common of these is cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD), which affects 40-50% of CF adults. CFRD significantly impacts the pulmon...
متن کاملCoverage of prandial insulin requirements by means of an ultra-rapid-acting inhaled insulin.
Barriers to the use of prandial insulin regimens include inadequate synchronization of insulin action to postprandial plasma glucose excursions as well as a significant risk of hypoglycemia and weight gain. Technosphere® insulin (TI) is an inhaled ultra-rapid-acting human insulin that is quickly absorbed in the alveoli. With a time to maximum plasma drug concentration of approximately 14 min an...
